The Guilford Indians travel program is run by highly devoted individuals who want to see young men and women thrive through the sport they love in the town they grew up in.

dan tafro
Program Director
Dan Tafro grew up in New Jersey and moved to Guilford 6 years ago with his wife Stephanie and three boys. Dan made an immediate impact on the communities sports scene by volunteering to coach baseball and football in town. Dan is now the Program Director of the Guilford Indians Travel Baseball and Softball Program 9U-19u. In addition to his being the Director of Indians Travel baseball he is also on the Guilford Youth Football board. Dan is also a youth football Head Coach where he won a bowl series 7th-grade football championship. Dan also Coaches the Indians 11u team, was an Assistant 12U District Little League All-star Coach, and assistant coach for the Pirates Guilford Little League team. Dan is a graduate of Monmouth University where he played his college baseball. Dan was a member of the team that reached the Division 1 NCAA Regional in 1999. Dan has done a lot for youth sports in Guilford in a short period of time.

Brian hayden
Program Coordinator (13-14)
Brian Hayden is a graduate of West Haven high school. He went on to play baseball at the University of Southern Connecticut State University where he was a member of the 2005 team that reached that won the Northeast Regional and reached the Division 2 College World Series for the first time in school history. Brian pitched on the staff that led Division 2 in team era in 2005. Brian is entering his 10th year as Head Coach of Guilford High school. He has guided the Indians to two division titles (2011, 2019) and 8 State Tournament bids including two quarterfinal appearances and one semi-final. Brian was named 2017 Diamond Club Coach of the Year. Brian was also selected by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association to be the 2019 Head Coach of the Junior Select All-Star team.

jeff mainetti
Program Coordinator (9-12)
Jeff Mainetti is a Graduate of Guilford High school. He has the highest single-season batting average ( .546) in the program's history. Jeff was a two time ALL SCC player at Guilford. Jeff continued his playing career at Quinnipiac College. Jeff was a member of the 2005 team which made the Division 1 NCAA Regionals. Jeff is currently a Varsity Assistant at Guilford High School and has been coaching in Guilford for the past 12 years.

ryan brockett
Program Coordinator
Ryan Brockett is a graduate of Guilford High School where he was a member of the 2007 State Championship team. Ryan was a 4-year starter, three-time ALL SCC selection and captain his senior year. Ryan went to play at the University of New Haven where he was a four-year starter and two-time captain finishing his career with a .317 batting average. Ryan received multiple awards at UNH including NE-10 ALL Conference and NE-10 Academic ALL Conference. Ryan was also selected to the ABCA All-Region team and was a Rawlings East Region Gold Glove selection at shortstop. Ryan played professionally for 6 years and batted .356 in 2013 for the Gary Southshore Railcats. Ryan coached two seasons at Le Moyne College where he mentored the hitters. He currently coaches the Guilford Indians Travel 19U summer team.

NICK HAHn
19U Fall Head Coach
Nick Hahn is entering his 3rd year as Head Coach at Old Saybrook High School. Nick is a graduate of a Guilford High School and was a member if the 2007 State Championship team. Nick was a co-Captain on that team and went on to play his college baseball at the University of Southern Maine. Nick was named to the First Team All-Little East Conference as a Pitcher. Coach Hahn was a Varsity Assitant for Guilford High School from 2011-2017. Nick has coached Travel baseball in town as well and has won 6 Championships. Nick works at Valley Regional High School in Deep River in the Special Education Department and Coaches Unified Sports.

ryder miconi
15U Fall Head Coach
Ryder Miconi graduated from Guilford High school in 2012. Ryder went on to play Division 1 Baseball at the College William & Mary where he worked his way from being a walk-on to a two-time All-Conference player and a two time All Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Ryder helped William & Mary to a Division 1 NCAA Regional Final appearance and was named to the ALL Regional Tournament team. Ryder played one season of professional baseball for the Pittsburg Diamonds of the Pacific Association where he played under former big leaguer Aaron Miles. Ryder is currently the Head Coach of the 15U Guilford Indians Travel baseball team.

Steve messina
Instructor
Steve Messina is a graduate of West Haven high school. Steve graduated in 2002 and went on to play a year of college baseball. Steve was a three varsity starter at West Haven High and pitched West Haven past Norte Dame of West Haven in the second round of the state tournament. Steve started his coaching career in West Haven as a Volunteer Coach at West Haven High School. Steve has recently become an instructor for the Guilford Indians Travel program and joined the Guilford High School Varsity staff.
